String Theory is Coming Undone
This "animated gif" is kind of fascinating to track visually: if you look at the edges for a while, then back towards the centre, it’s got a sense of depth... 😋
It's kind of like visualising how matter moves in 4D+ geometric space, the way the points also appear to run perpendicular while also rotating downwards…
My intuition as to why it’s likely that the reason String Theory is wrong about 11 (plus 8 hidden) dimensions is because they’re either over- or under- estimating the underlying complexity of the as yet unknown / not directly observable in our physical reality (a.k.a 80% dark matter) impacts, and clinging too tightly to the concept of Gravity as a separate entity…
When it’s equally as likely, perhaps, to be the 3D geometric view of another dimensional reality that overlaps / simultaneously exists our known, ‘observable’ universe? 😊
Explicatively, we’re the equivalent of 3D flatlanders, not much more sophisticated in our thinking as the flat earthers; in that we’re holding on to our own view of the universe. By trying to express it with our current theories and then measuring it with our limited measurement tools…
It’s gotten to the point where we can imagine the possibility of being a multiverse, while not yet understanding it’s just as likely another system that is actually contained inside our own reality… 🤔
Essentially, the String Theorists have been so enamoured with the beautiful symmetry implicit in their theories, that they have mistaken the overlapping nature of their mathematics as ‘proof of meaningfulness’.
They’ve lost sight of the objective truth that the data is yelling at them: they’re just seeing what they’re putting out, mirrored back at them. (Perhaps it's because there’s a zealotry in the way they believe so hard, it has to be right… eventually?!)
If it was even slightly as elegant as their models, there’d be an explicit pattern by now… rather than more Schrödinger-like over statements on the potentially infinite variables.
It seems likely that Quantum Mechanics needs to find a 21st Century Feynman n’ Dirac... 🦜
