Welcome to the STEM Project Portal

Kia ora, I'm setting up this STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) Project blog here in the upper North Island of Aotearoa, New Zealand. The initial aim is around sharing emergent ideas within our wider community: by considering how we can intentionally develop the skills that we will need to learn and prosper in the 21st Century. Having done my fair share of setting up GAFE classrooms and even old school websites as part of my professional teaching practise in the past dozen or more years, the events of 2020 made it clear to all that we probably need to get our proverbial wiggle on for more ubiquitous (24/7) access to responsive learning environments... I'm currently in the fortuitous position of working at one of the best secondary schools in the southern hemisphere, and seeing how the old ways of doing things are being updated in regards to creating a bicultural understanding of communicating our understanding.  My own thoughts are that it'd be helpf...

String Theory is Coming Undone

This "animated gif" is kind of fascinating to track visually: if you look at the edges for a while, then back towards the centre, it’s got a sense of depth... 😋 It's kind of like visualising how matter moves in 4D+ geometric space , the way the points also appear to run perpendicular while also rotating downwards… My intuition as to why it’s likely that the reason String Theory is wrong about 11 (plus 8 hidden) dimensions is because they’re either over- or under- estimating the underlying complexity of the as yet unknown / not directly observable in our physical reality (a.k.a 80% dark matter) impacts, and clinging too tightly to the concept of Gravity as a separate entity…  When it’s equally as likely, perhaps, to be the 3D geometric view of another dimensional reality that overlaps / simultaneously exists our known, ‘observable’ universe? 😊 Explicatively, we’re the equivalent of 3D flatlanders , not much more sophisticated in our thinking as the flat earthers; in t...
